From Splash to Spray. ~ raidersofthelostscent

At the end of the Fifties the first spray bottles appeared, gas-powered, ( called "atomiseur", or "gas-propellant sprays") , but the real success of this innovative system arrived only in the Eighties, with the advent of "natural spray" system, which did not involve artificial gases, prohibited by law.

Since the Eighties “splash” bottles experienced a gradual decline, until disappearing -almost completely- at the end of the Nineties. In 2000s splash bottles were very rare, except for the aftershaves, and now virtually extinct, except for special cases (usually limited edition bottles).

The advantages of the spray compared to the splash are undeniable: it's more practical, more comfortable, also more hygienic, the perfume has a lower evaporation during the years, it is not in contact with the air, and the spray is more or less standardized as quantity of perfume elapsed.

But above all, the most important thing is: the scent is "distributed " in a better way on the skin, since the " air-and-liquid" cloud that is formed reaches the skin in a more evenly way.

And the difference with the "splash" can be huge. The same “spray” fragrance may be different from the “splash” one. And the advantage, often, is on the spray side. There could be the suspect that the spray "smells better, and smells more". Of course, it shouldn’t be so, since the scent is the same: what we see is a phenomenon of correct / incorrect "distribution" of the perfume.

So what? The proposed solution is to transform your old “splash” perfume into a "spray" one.

You will need: empty plastic spray bottle, sometimes a sterile disposable syringe, and/or a small funnel…plus a lot of patience and a good deal of skill.

An empty spray bottle (left): you can buy it for cheap.

Open the plastic spray bottle by screwing the cap.

If you are skilled, you can simply pour perfume in the spray bottle.
You could use a mini-funnel, too.

Otherwise, you should use a disposable syringe

Use the syringe to aspire perfume....

...then pour it in the spray bottle.
IMPORTANT: "one perfume, one syringe"
NEVER use the same syringe for different perfumes!!

When you reach the desired level,
close the bottle and don't forget to write the label,
to remember what perfume it is.

Your splash perfume is in a "spray" version now!

Alla fine degli anni Cinquanta apparvero i primi flaconi spray, funzionanti a gas (“atomiseur”, “gas propellant spray”), ma il vero successo di questo innovativo sistema arrivò solo a partire degli anni Ottanta, con l’avvento del “natural spray” che non prevedeva più l’utilizzo del gas, peraltro proibito dalla legislazione vigente. A partire dagli anni Ottanta i flaconi splash conoscono un progressivo declino, fino a sparire quasi completamente alla fine degli anni Novanta. Già nel 2000 i flaconi splash erano diventati rarissimi, se si eccettuano i dopobarba, e oggi sono praticamente estinti, tranne casi particolari (di solito flaconi ad edizione limitata).

I vantaggi dello spray rispetto allo splash sono innegabili: sono più pratici, più comodi, volendo anche più igienici, il profumo evapora di meno rispetto al flacone splash, si “inquina” di meno dal momento che non è a contatto con l’aria, se ne spreca di meno dal momento che lo spruzzo è –più o meno- standardizzato.

Ma soprattutto, con lo spray avviene la cosa più importante: il profumo viene “distribuito” meglio sulla pelle, la nuvola spray “aria-liquido” che si forma va a irrorare la pelle in maniera più omogenea.

E la differenza con lo “splash” si avverte, eccome. Lo stesso profumo in versione spray può risultare differente da quello in versione splash. E la differenza, sovente, va a vantaggio della versione spray. Si ha l’impressione che lo spray “profuma meglio, e di più”. Ovviamente non dovrebbe essere così, dal momento che il profumo è identico: quello a cui assistiamo è un fenomeno di corretta/errata “distribuzione” del profumo.

Come fare allora? La soluzione proposta è quella di trasformare in “spray” i vostri vecchi profumi “splash”.

Avete bisogno di: flaconcino spray vuoto, siringa monouso sterile (quando serve), occasionalmente un piccolo imbuto, tanta pazienza e una buona dose di abilità.
